
Trisha has performed emergency-services work more than half her life. Since 1978, she has been an EMT in the Commonwealth of Virginia. For several years, she was a volunteer EMT/firefighter in the Fairfax County and Fairfax City (Va.) Fire Department. She currently volunteers as a park EMT during the busy summer months at Wolf Trap Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, Va. She is a EMS bike patroller for the NPS patrolling the C & O Canal, She is also an active member of a local search & rescue group. Since 1985, Trisha has been a member of the National Ski Patrol, and for 14 years patrolled at Whitetail Mountain in Pennsylvania. Trisha has been teaching EMT for the Commonwealth of Virginia for 9 years; Trisha is also an Outdoor Emergency Care Instructor for the National Ski Patrol for 19 years, and a Level 1 Fire Instructor for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Trisha is an Regional Instructor / Trainer for American Health and Safety Institute and Emergency Care and Safety Institute.
Mark Gleason is a Search and Rescue professional and outdoor athlete with extensive wilderness experience. As both a wilderness first responder and a mental health professional, Mark brings a unique and practical perspective to patient care. Additionally, he has extensive experience in working with first responders and other professionals in identifying and managing post incident stress reactions. Mark has instructed in a variety of topics on a local and national level, and is a very engaging and effective presenter for general or special interest groups. Additionally, he volunteers his time as an Instructor for the American Red Cross.
Douglas has worked for some years in emergency action, crisis management, and civil emergency planning (CEP) as a politico-military officer, Crisis Management Team Leader, Senior Trainer and Program Manager. He has led crisis training and exercises in over 120 countries. His core interests are individual and team self-sufficiency and resilience in crisis. He volunteers with the rehab squad of DC Fire/EMS, DC and Arlington Community Emergency Response (CERT), the American Red Cross, and a mountain rescue group rated by the State of Virginia as a wilderness rescue squad for wilderness search and rescue under law enforcement auspices for the Mid-Atlantic states. He is rated by VDEM as a Field Team Sign cutter. Douglas serves as a Manager (Safety and Security) in the Red Cross national Disaster Services system, and as Co-Lead for Life Safety and Asset Protection for the Red Cross Chapters of the National Capital Region (NCR) coincident with FEMA’s NCR. He has served as a CERT Instructor in Light Urban Search and Rescue at the DC Fire Academy, and as a Red Cross Instructor in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Wilderness First Aid, WMD Terrorism, and Mass Casualty Disasters. An Advanced Open Water Diver (Search and Recovery), Douglas was certified as a Rescue Diver in 2009.
Steve is an avid outdoorsman with extensive experience in wilderness medical care. He enjoys backpacking, camping, rock climbing, caving, skiing and many other outdoor activities. After taking increasing levels of first aid training, Steve became a CPR instructor in 2003. Shortly after that, he certified to teach wilderness first aid, wilderness first responder and recently wilderness EMT. He has been an instructor trainer for the last 5 years and conducts train-the-trainer sessions as often as possible. Steve has volunteered at Whitetail Ski Resort since 2008 helping out in the clinic and treats sick and injured guests there regularly. Steve is active in the local Scouting community as well. He has been an Assistant Scout Master since 1999 and District Health and Safety Chair for the Seneca and now Montgomery districts since 2007. Steve is currently one of the training officers for the local CERT team and volunteers at the fire department where he rides the ambulance as an EMT-B.

He currently volunteers as a park EMT during the busy summer months at Wolf Trap Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, Va. Since 1970, Steve has been a member of the National Ski Patrol, first in Wisconsin and now at Liberty Mountain in Pennsylvania. He began teaching first aid for American Red Cross while a college student in the 1970s and still volunteers for the Red Cross in safety programs and disaster services. Steve is a former board member of the Citizen CPR Foundation, which promotes CPR research and instruction throughout the world.
Veteran emergency care provider Karin Sadowski has provided service on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. She has been involved with the National Ski Patrol since 1989 as an instructor and has been an instructor trainer since 1995. Karin was responsible for all Outdoor Emergency Care training and recertification for the European Division of the National Ski Patrol from 1996 to 2000. She developed, taught and recertified required training courses for senior level ski patrollers for the European Division. Karin has been a member of Liberty Mountain Ski Patrol in Pennsylvania from 1978 to 1994 and from 2001 to the present. From 1994 to 2000 she patrolled with the European Division all over Europe and is still an honorary member of that Division. She has received many service recognition and leadership awards and a National Appointment from the National Ski Patrol headquarters. Karin has taught Outdoor Care to both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was a Girl Scout Troop leader as well as a Cub Scout leader for several years. She also provided first aid training to the members of 4-H. Presently Karin works as an outreach worker and counselor and provides leadership experience for recovering alcoholics and substance abusers. Karin has many years experience of teaching college level students and has presented a variety of topics on a national and international level.
Dean is a 24 year veteran of the fire service with Fauquier County Virginia. He has given much of his life serving the community in more ways than one. He has held many positions through-out his years of service to include EMS Coordinator, QA/QI Officer, EMS Committee Officer, Infectious Disease Officer, EMS Training Officer, and Captain of Catlett Volunteer Fire Company. He also coordinated the Fauquier Fire/Rescue initial response team to hurricane Katrina with the Red Cross Receiving a National Humanitarian Award. Dean setup initial care for over 1500 people that were displaced by this tragic event. Assigning Doctors, Nurses, and EMT’s that responded with the Red Cross he was able to setup and manage 15 shelters for those in dire need. Working closely with his team, he directly affected thousands of lives during this time of tragedy. He has held many certifications over the years to include NREMT-I, Fire Fighter Medic, Driver Pump Operator, Emergency Vehicle Operator Level III, Hazardous Materials Operations, ICS , Swift Water Rescue Technician and is an Instructor for Emergency Care & Safety Institute & American Health & Safety Institute . He has also assisted with teaching many fire science and EMT classes and holds many Emergency Management Institute certifications. His knowledge and experience reflects a compassion to further continue his commitment in the public service field.
Chris has been involved in emergency management for over ten years. Since 1995, he has been a professional consultant and supported numerous federal, state, and local emergency management agencies on a variety of projects. Chris currently volunteers with a local search and rescue group where he serves as an assistant logics officer and is also involved with the training of new team members. He also has over ten years of adult leader experience with Boy Scouts of America. He is an Assistant Scoutmaster with a local Boy Scout Troop and is certified as a “Trained” adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America. Chris is also an avid sea kayaker and has three years of experience leading sea kayaking day trips around the metro Washington DC area. He is certified as a Wilderness First Responder and an OSHA 40-Hour Hazardous Site worker.
A prior Army medic is skilled in combat medicine and survival. He has been volunteering for mountain Search and Rescue for over ten years. As a nationally registered paramedic he also volunteers for Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. Furthermore he is a certified wilderness first aid instructor. He has worked as a medic in remote regions of the world such the Haitian Central Plateau. With his background in emergency medicine and his outdoor experience Zeb offers a practical perspective into wilderness medicine. In his free time Zeb enjoys climbing, hiking, tracking and mountain biking.
