Wilderness First Responder is a 9-day, 60-80 hour course that is the standard for outdoor wilderness professionals and others who want a higher level of training, or require WFR certification. Many organizations require this as part of their job qualifications. It includes all topics covered in the WFA plus numerous additional topics. The course is recommended for outdoor professionals as well as outdoor recreationlists who lead adventure trips and those who are in the backcountry for extended periods and may have to care for a patient for days. The course length may vary depending on whether the class has had previous training, or does enough reading and preparation to reduce the need for extended lectures.
